These images help me in the design process for both of the magazines that I am designing (the school and music magazine). These images have told me what sort of magazines are out there already, and how individuality is essential when it comes to designing a new magazine. They also introduced me to new styles of presentation and how the different target audiences will vary the style in which the magazine has be layed out. This research also allows me to see what factors make the magazine eye-catching and appealing to the audience. It demonstrates how you have to adapt certain aspects of the magazine to make it more suited for the audience in which it is intended. It also has given me an in depth idea of what is essenstial on a front page of a music magazine (as well as the school magazine). For instance, it is obvious how: barcodes, prices, issusue dates, images, titles etc... all play a vital role in making the magazine what it is through providing information such as this.

Preliminary Contents Page

This preliminary contents page is important towards the development of my overall project. Although this is not an important piece of work it will help me for when it comes to the music magazine contents. This is because from this I have started to develop my understanding on the layout and what is required within a contents page. This has a simple design that is at the same eye catching as it has carried on the theme from the front page. This is an important concept as it allows the audience to have a sense of familiarity throughout the magazine. The images that have been included also incorporate this sense of knowledge of the school.

Life at St Gregorys - School Magazine...

This final copy of my school magazine puts together all I have learnt about making a magazine eye-catching and appealing to its audience. This has been achieved through the use of a quote; this helps to make the audience interested as it gives an insight to what is within the magazine. The use of images helps to portray the overall ambience of school life, and shows what kind of impression the school wants to give. The images show the students being: practical in lessons, helping others, and working well together. This representation of the school is a positive one and one which will help promote the school. The school logo is also an important factor that helps make the front page successful, as it promotes a sense of familiarity towards the school. Simple things like the background colour help to make the front page stand out, it also helps to make the text bold. All of these elements help to make this school magazine front page eye-catching and appealing to the audience to make an overall positive impression of 'Life at St Gregory’s' magazine.
